Too much of anything is NO FUN! Life is too short to do too much of any one thing, including play. Excessive playing leads to a back log of work that is very stressful.

Extreme saving leads to feelings of deprivation (the enemy!). Lots of savings without cutting back on spending defeats your purpose.

Too much work and not enough play leads to stressed out unhappy people!

I have shared a lot of ideas about saving money, but have not hit on cutting your spending habits defeats your progress and keeps your goals out of reach.

With the new year nearly upon us, perhaps now is a good time to look at the balance in our lives!

How much time are you spending "playing" vs. working? Guilt free recreation is more savory than recreating while in the back of your mind you are ticking off things you "ought" to be doing. Too much work is equally as bad because you are thinking of all the things you would like to be doing!

Are you tackling areas you could be saving in? Have you scaled back your spending without completely depriving yourself? If you don't use a budget, have you considered researching HOW to make and use one?

Have you devised some savings plans to meet your goals? Cover extra expenses (like back to school?) Think of all the expected expenses (some of the unexpected!) Buying your heating fuel for next winter in July will save you a great deal of money. Plan NOW for the best time to buy items that are unavoidable!
