Back to School Daze!!

YIKES!!!! It's that time of year again. Not already you scream...but yes it's true. It's time to start planning for that great event that is a month away. Why plan now? To save yourself a considerable amount of money in the long run!

Planning, planning, planning is the key word. Timing is not everything, but planning is! I have already purchased a year's worth of pencils and three pencil boxes. I won't purchase the rest of the items until I get the list from the school next month when I go to register my son for his first year. These items are securely stored away out of the reach of anxious children.

Here are my list of preparations for the coming school year.

1) Underwear & socks - I guarantee I will be buying these because it's a given. I watch for sales on these itmes locally and online.

2) Clothing in General - I have been and will continue to search thrift stores for good quality and low price items. I will buy what I need to match these items new, however my total output for each child will be well under $100.00 per child.

3) Items one is expected to bring - We are required to bring in boxes of tissues. I am gathering pricing information on buying in bulk (3 kids x 2 boxes, I can buy in bulk)

4) Shoes - I will not buy these until immediately before school starts or shortly after. In Florida, most kids wear sandals year round except for a few months out of the year. The do need sneakers for phys ed but I can get them inexpensively at many places.

5) Network NOW for hand me down clothing in good condition. A girl at work is getting me her nephew's cloths for my son as there is no younger boy to pass them down to and my son is our only boy!

6) Check your immunization records and physical requirements! You don't want to be held up enrolling or allowing your child to go to school because of one shot. Many requirements have changed and you will want to be up on the latest!

7) Don't forget to check clothing you may havein storage prior to making purchases. You may forget that your child has 12 pairs of jeans put away for the summer!

8) Above all else, Don't stress!!! If your child does not have all the required items the first day of school, the world surely will not end. If they want designer clothing or shoes, let them earn the money for them doing yard work for the neighbors etc.
