Use it or lose it. To stay healthy, we need both physical and mental exercise. Life-long learning goes a long way in promoting a healthy lifestyle. That's only one reason to sign up for the Suite University courses.

The courses are available at bargain prices. Of course, you are also supporting the Suite at the same time. Keep the Suite free by registering for Suite courses.

For gardeners, the School of Gardening is a godsend. It offers a number of wonderful gardening courses.

Gardens are getting smaller, while houses are much larger. The average newly built single-family home in 1970 was around 1400 square feet. Now, it is over 2200 square feet. Understand that this growth has been at the expense of the garden. If you have a postage-stamp garden, don't despair. Sign up for Gardening the Square Foot Way, taught by Diana Pederson.

According to Pederson, square foot gardens are suitable for those in wheelchairs. As part of the course, she teaches how one can deal with poor soil. She has an associate degree in horticulture, and lots of hands-on experience.

Winter is on the way for the northern U.S. Gardeners in the region need not let the cold deprive them of their favorite activity. The solution is to turn to houseplants. Learn how to choose a healthy, suitable houseplant by signing up for Houseplants for Beginners. Taught by Jill Florio, she focuses specifically on helping gardeners choose plants that are suitable for their personal style.

As a youngster, Florio was very precocious. She was propagating houseplants at the age of six. While other teenagers were buying the latest pop music, she spent her allowance on gardening books. You can benefit from her many years of experience. She has a degree in conservation biology, and has a free houseplant Rx service in Arizona.

In these uncertain times when there are concerns about pesticides and chemical fertilizers, many are turning to organic produce. Learn how to grow your own and the reasons for doing so in Ecological Gardening: Organics and Beyond. In this course, Bob Ewing focuses specifically on companion planting, seed saving, and soil health. Start creating a healthy environment right in your own backyard with the things you learn in this course. Ewing is a certified permaculture designer, and has his own practice in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He gives workshops and is actively involved in community gardening projects. In addition, he writes articles on urban permaculture.
