Cams - Cams and More CamsCan't make it to New Orleans? Miss the excitement of the Quarter and want to see what's going on? Why not visit a French Quarter web cam and check out the action. Web cams have been popular for a couple of years and seem to be springing up everywhere - The French Quarter is no exception. Let's start with the first and best known of the "Quarter Cams" - The BourboCam - Located at the corner of Bourbon and St. Peter Streets in a window of Cats Meow. This cam offers a 24 hour view of one of the busiest intersections in the quarter. In fact this cam has become so well known that you will find people scheduling time to be on the street so they can wave at friends and family on the Internet. Next stop is theBeadCam - Most active during Mardi Gras they decided to keep it up all year, offers a good view of Bourbon Street. Or how about the ZoomCam where you control the camera! Tired of looking at street scenes? Check out the Oyster Cam - Located in the Acme Oyster House you can watch one of the quarters most popular pastimes, shucking and eating oysters. How about a trip down to the river for the OldManRiverCam - A good view of shipping on the Mississippi River and can be changed from one pic at a time to a video feed. Next stop Tipitina's - Get a look inside one of the most popular quarter music spots. or just a bunch of chairs depends on what time you log in :) Look for the Fesscam link, you need windows media player for this one. If you want a laugh go back to Cats Meow for the KaraokeCam. I never could bring myself to climb up on that stage! You need RealPlayer for this one. So if you are missing New Orleans and just can't wait until your net trip stop on by one of the cams and have a look at life and times in "The Big Easy"... Many of these Cam sites let you send an image as an E-Card so you can share them with your friends too... Til next week... "Doc"
