It's Time for Jazz Fest

How do I get there? Of the several ways to get to the fairgrounds taking your car is the worst! All day parking is available for a limited number of cars at a cost of $20.00. Parking in the surrounding neighborhoods is not recommended. New Orleans Tours Inc. operates a continuos round-trip Jazz Fest express bus from the French Quarter daily from 10:45am to 7:30pm, cost $8.00 round trip. The RTA also operates public bus routes to the fairgrounds, cost $1.25 each way. A taxi is also a good way to get to the festival, cost a $3.00 per-person special event fee (3 or more people) or the meter fare which ever is higher.

Some special notes on festival attendance: pets, video or audio recording equipment, outside beverages, glass, personal tents, metal poles, beach umbrellas and shade canopies are not allowed on the fairgrounds.

After you leave the fairgrounds and return to the French Quarter you can still enjoy the flavor of the fest. Many of the Quarter's clubs have special entertainment during the festival. Some places to check out are: House of Blues, Tipitina's, and the Funky Butt.

Be sure to bring comfortable clothes, shoes and your suntan lotion. Don't forget your camera and most of all get ready for a "Great Time".

Can't make it to Jazz Fest this year? Tune in to WWOZ on the web for live shows from the festival as well as their usual great New Orleans sounds.

Still don't have that hotel reservation! Some rooms are still available but may be hard to find, try TheQuarterRat's Hotel page to do a search.

Have Fun... Doc
