Dime a DozenE-mail checking utilities. There's lots of them around but this doesn't stop new ones popping up. This only goes to show just popular this type of program is... how many connection hours do we all get through dealing with all these messages? There's nothing more convenient than having a little icon sitting down in the tray area beside the clock doing nothing more than looking for the mail man. I wish I had something to handle snail mail the same way... and to go out and bring it to my desk! I'm on record more than once as saying I don't want my E-mail client programs performing this simple task... they take up to many system resources. Most of what comes in is junk / spam and that's heading straight for the garbage. Mail checkers come in an assortment of flavours and colours. Features range between checking single or multiple accounts, merely signalling incoming mail or allowing you to view the entire contents... to including a mini mail client allowing you to compose and send replies. A new kid on the block and one with the most useful features is :- Easy Notification : Weberik. "Easy Notification is a FREE e-mail notification program. It gives you the ability to check for new messages on multiple POP3 servers without opening your e-mail client." There's a complete list of all the features on the home page together with a nice set of screenshots. This is as good looking a program as I've seen but if you want to be spoilt for choice have a look at this list as well. Talking about E-mail... here's a freebie mail service / program with a difference. It's the first of it's kind that I've seen in that it should be extremely useful to people for whom English is not their native language. "FH Mail is Multi-lingual, you can write in your own language on any computer & all you need is a browser. English, Russian, Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, a total of 41 major languages are supported with a "virtual keyboard" for each one. If you want to write in a language that requires accents or a different alphabet it's right there at your fingertips. You'll be able to write home & have your e-mail look the way it should no matter what language you use. NB.FH Mail uses Java applets & sends in HTML. Your browser & your recipient's browser must support Java & be able to read HTML."
