Electronic Footsteps.
This is going to be one of the latter, although perhaps a more appropriate title would be Who's there? Hopefully by the time I reach the last line I've made the connection for all of us. You have your web site with the best Home Page on the World Wide Web and the counter you included tells you the masses are beating a path to your door. Even better, the door is always open and the welcome mat is on the inside. Hmmm... the sound of footsteps??? Seeing that I've been throwing out a few buzz words lately, let me make this week's one Interactive. Why not give your visitors something to do whilst they're wandering around messing up your nice clean virtual floor? Just to make an easy start on the attractions, how about finding out who they are and where they're from by having a guest book for them to sign? All the other posh places do. Another popular idea is to conduct your own poll. A lot of the editors here are doing this... for reasons ranging from pure fun to addressing important issues. I could run one right here and ask the question "Are you paying a fair price for Freeware?" There are freebies out there to help you set up these goodies very easily and the first place to check is the site where your home page is located. If you use one of the big guys like GeoCities, Xoom or Tripod, you won't really have to look anywhere else. If you're using a small local ISP, let me point you in a couple of directions. appeals to me because I like the sound of the guy and his sense of fun. This looks to be a combination guest book and polling feature and there's plenty of reasons offered for giving it a try. offers a free polling service rather than purely a program you set up yourself and looks to be the thing to use if you already have a guest book in place. The instructions seem to be pretty easy to follow.
