Time Out

This mess will be the death of me
MY notes I cannot find!
I know we share the computer dear
But I don't need to share your mind!
So when you're in a cleaning mood
Sometime soon I hope!
Sort out your notes on programs
Then maybe we BOTH can cope!

I pride myself on having a neat and tidy mind and being a well organised guy. I think this comes from having worked with computers for so many years. Despite this there comes a time when I get ashamed of myself looking round my desks, real and virtual, and seeing the mess they're in... it's one of those times!

Surrounded as I am by paper and electronic notes I need to do some major recycling. New programs I want to tell you about are accumulating faster than the articles I am writing. So here is the game plan folks.
First ; From now on articles will appear weekly... there is no way I can run out of material!
Second ; To make a start on restoring order all my notes are going into neatly labeled boxes.
Tool Box : Office : Games Locker : Paint Box : Makeup Case. Others will be added down the road.
A quick note about the Makeup Case... just to cover myself (-: This is my wife Dee's because she is in charge of 'appearance'. Everything in here is cosmetic and is purely to do with looks.

What I will be doing over the next few weeks is reviewing small programs from a variety of boxes. Little gems I think you will like and find useful. I still have plenty of multi-featured programs that will require a full article. Also I have at least one in the pipeline that will be a two part. Lots of variety.

Talking of variety, I love it when I hear about problems people want to solve. Sometimes I can point towards a program or go looking in my favorite places. Many programmers are looking for new ideas. Keep coming with the peeves, nuisances, and pet hates... I will help all I can. Remember the golden rule. There are no stupid questions...

Not wishing to leave today without passing on at least one goodie, here is one from the Tool Box.

Rain / Waterfall : Produced by Leading Wintech:
Now rocket scientist I'm not and there is a lot I don't understand about CPU chips. However I do know they produce a lot of heat, particularly non Pentium types. Rain and Waterfall are two idler utilities, produced by the same people, intended to cool things down. They achieve this by basically putting the CPU into 'neutral' when it's not doing anything. Both automatically detect which chip you have on board so installation and usage is very simple. Just add it to your Start Up folder and it will run automatically in the background.
