New & Interesting Trends

Recently, I was looking at various freelance links when I noticed an unexpected trend. I found numerous sites listing freelance opportunities in fields never before represented (at least to my knowledge).

One such site, http://www.powerplanning.com/page4.html, lists "occasional needs for specialists in the Power and Energy Sector". Anyone reading this article with such skills, please let me know the results!

Another site, http://www.creative-village.net/c-freeopp.htm, seems to be compiling a potential team of on-call freelance professionals, in their own words, it "...enables us to tap into a the expertise needed to complete each site while keeping our overhead low. This makes it possible for us to provide quality work to our clients for less cost than traditional agencies or website companies. And, it gives you an avenue of incoming work without the hassles and unbillable time associated with every project. Since CVC handles the sales, client contact, creative direction, accounting, and account services, you are able to concentrate on what you do best." I find this encouraging, too. I am hoping that this mind set will penetrate the thinking of big businesses, as well, opening up great possibilities for freelancers.

There are also opportunities in which the freelancer 'shares' in a percentage of advertising revenues based on page views of a site they host or maintain. One such site is http://www.bella-online.com/become_a_host4.shtml#family. I attempted a similiar endeavor with www.themestream.com. Unfortunately, they disbanded the site and I didn't receive any revenue. (Note: I was owed approximately $2.10. It wasn't a profitable venture).

That is everything for now. I am still looking, hoping and working to pass on positive information to my fellow freelancers!
