If you have been looking at the freelance opportunities posted on the internet, you probably know that the number of interested freelance professionals is far greater than the number of solid projects. However, just stop and consider that probably each of the businesses posting projects on the internet at one time used in-house employees to handle their jobs. Each and every business needing projects completed could be persuaded to consider outsourcing their work with a freelance professional!
My philosophy is that even if I do not land the project, perhaps I have made one more person aware of the option and availiabilty of using freelance professionals for a multitude of tasks. The best way to begin is to take a look at the current job postings sites. Stay away from sites with multiple listings by job agencies because they will not want to use a freelance person. Your target audience is small businesses. The small business person wants the work completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Freelance professionals offer the small business an opportunity to hire someone to handle tasks they cannot complete. This may be due to lack or skills or time. By using a freelance worker, the business is not responsible for payroll liabilities. Added up over time, this can be a big expense, particularly for a new business. Additionally, the freelance professional is only paid for the amount of work and/or time spent on the project. There is no need to pay someone an 8 hour day for a project that took a mere 60 minutes. Another huge savings. If you approach small businesses in this manner, many of them will at least consider using a freelance professional. And if they choose to hire someone in-house, at least you have made an additional contact. Be sure to leave some sort of business materials behind: a business card or flyer. They may decide to use you in the future! Go To Page: 1
