Her first order of business was to get a new job. A friend suggested sales, so she drew on her previous experience as a receptionist for a car dealership. After 16 rejections, she finally landed a job as a salesperson for a Chrysler dealership. The sales manager said she looked like the "nervy type." That was an understatement. After a year on the job, she landed the salesman of the year award (there was no saleswoman of the year award). She was later promoted to finance manager and eventually general sales manager. A new dream began to take shape: to own her own Chrysler franchise.
"I remember inquiring with Chrysler about opening a franchise," says Luna Brem. "They told me I needed $800,000. To me that may as well have been $8 million." Next week: Marion Luna Brem turns her dream into reality.
