"At this moment of history all the freedoms that make up a free society are under scrutiny.(William Hocking Ernest-1947)
Mr. Ernest's quote from 1947 brings the realism to light that we have been questioning freedom and free press for decades and generations. In Free Expression in America: A Documentary History (Book by Sheila Suess Kennedy; Greenwood Press, 1999.) the idea of liberty in a free press society has roots dating to 1215 where the great charter of English liberty was decreed (under pressure) by King John at Runnymede on June 15, 1215 A.D. Free Expression in America: A Documentary History presents documentative facts that have proceeded since the earliest eras in our history. Free press isn't a concept that we are going to loose-it is a steadfast reality that is part of our history and future. We are blessed with the fortitude of this freedom. Its use, or misuse, is our cross to bare. We as Fourth Estate Guardians then have the inherent right to provide depth of both concept and thought when presenting either fact or fiction for our readership.
