The French Grand Prix is held at Magny Cours. The circuit is a very high speed circuit with long straights as well as speed traps. The average speed here is one of the highest in the calender at 215 km/hr. The long straights are considered to be advantageous to Williams, with its BMW engine in full flow and also being the home ground of Michelin, their tre suppliers. The Qualifying session was interesting as it brought out the very best from the Williams team, with Ralf Schumacher, securing pole position in Qualifying ahead of Michael Schumacher. This is the first time since mid 1997 that the Williams team have secured a pole position in Qualifying, the last one being by Jacques Villenueve over 3 years ago.It was a good recovery for Mclaren with David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen qualifying in positions 3 and 4 repectively, much needed after a poor performance in Nurburgring, Germany. The race certainly promises to be very interesting as the Schumacher brothers battle it out yet again as they form the front row in the 2001 French Grand Prix at Magny Cours on Sunday.

The Final Qualifying Standings for the franch Grand Prix are -

1) Ralf Schumacher - Williams BMW 2) Michael Schumacher - Ferrari 3) David Coulthard - Mclaren Mercedes 4) Mika Hakkinen - Mclaren Mercedes 5) Jarno Trulli - Jordan Honda 6) Rubens Barrichello - Ferrari
