Back to December. Some myths about holidays and homicide aren’t always true. I haven’t had a case where Uncle Larry stabbed Cousin Morty over the last turkey leg, or a New Year’s Eve kiss turned into a rumble. I didn’t notice a large increase in suicides over the holidays. No incidents such as a housewife shooting her Santa-disguised husband, thinking he was a burglar.
However, there is an increase of robbery-murders. Small shops and stores become dangerous places to work. One December we had three people in a row killed during fast-food holdups in completely different areas of town, two at pizza parlors and one at a chicken place. Why the sudden increase?
Well, criminals have to buy presents, too. They just never got around to joining the Christmas Club.
