Preseason Blitz
The NFL Network has announced that during the 4 week preseason schedule that it will televise 55 preseason games. The only games it will not televise are those games already being televised by Fox, CBS, ABC and ESPN. The NFL Network is also planning on taking a new approach to the preseason coverage by using the local announcers to cover the play by play. The home team announcers will cover the first half and the away team covers the second half giving each team an opportunity to highlight its team. I wonder if this format will affect the roster setup during preseason, leading the teams to hold its better prospects until its announcers are in the booth. After all you won't want to introduce you new draft picks when you have announcers biased against your team calling the game. Preseason coverage starts August 13th! The T.O. Circus Terrell Owens is still a pain in the Eagles back side. Owens while still a hold out is rumored to be playing summer series basket ball for the Sacramento Kings. Although the Eagles have stated they would not give contractual permission for T.O. to play. The Eagle's front office also laughed off rumors that Owens might be traded off to Oakland for Jerry Porter. Besides I doubt even the Raiders would take him at this point, I firmly believe that if he doesn't play for the Eagles this season his arrogant career is over. James Henry Smith James Henry Smith might have been the biggest fan the Pittsburgh Steelers ever had, maybe even after his death. James Smith pasted away June 30th from prostate cancer. For his viewing his family set up a stage at the funeral parlor. Friends and family arriving for his viewing were met with a remarkable sight. Smith was propped up in his favorite recliner, he was decked out in his gold and black pajama's and Steelers blanket. In his hand was his remote and on the TV placed in front of him was a continuous loop of Pittsburgh highlights. On the table beside his was his cigarettes and beer, just as they were every Sunday of his adult life. His sister, MaryAnn Nails, 58. "He loved football and nobody did [anything] until the game went off. It was just like he was at home." God bless the football fan! Go To Page: 1 |
