Travelsleuth's Diary: September Sporting Fixtures

onto the A286 travelling South. Trains travel from London Victoria to Chichester and thense to nearby Hazlemere. Alternatively fly your own light aircraft into Goodwood which has its own aerodrome with private air traffic control facilities. Details: 01243 755000.
ACCOMMODATION: In nearby Midhurst two fine establishments vie for your custom. The 15th century Spread Eagle Hotel & Health Spa, (tel: 01730 816911), in South Street is a firm favourite with Goodwood and Cowdrey Park visitors, not to mention The Travelsleuth. In North Street overlooking Cowdrey Castle is the equally enticing Angel Hotel, (tel: 01730 812421), a lovingly restored Tudor coaching inn. For a truly sybaritic experience venture slightly further afield to Bailiffscourt Hotel on the coast at Climping, (tel: 01903 723511). This latter is one of England's great hotels for courtesy, comfort and cuisine. Travelsleuth's Golden Goblet Award.
