All Aboard for a steamy weekend

Word reaches me of arrangements for a super steamy London weekend offer in September. We can thank my old chum Simon at St. Alban's Travel for this particular sybaritic escapade which promises to be unforgettable. Have a look at the offer and then mark your diary for Friday 13 - Sunday 15 September.

Your memorable weekend starts when you book into the 4 star Berners Hotel, just off Oxford Street, staying in Edwardian grandeur in one of their executive rooms. From there you take in a choice of a West End musical or play - choose from Lloyd Webber'sPhantom of the Opera or his new hit Bombay Dreams, The Benefactors or Breath of Life, or, if you first- nighted at all these and fancy something different, choose from what's on in the West End at www.theatre.net

Then comes the steamy part of the weekend...Early Saturday morning you will embark onboard the luxurious Venice Simplon Orient-Express Northern Belle Pullman stock at Victoria for a very special excursion to Plymouth and back - a unique and unforgettable experience. At Victoria you will be greeted by a piper in his full Highland regalia and the hiss, smoke and steam from the greatest and most famous of all yesteryear's steam locomotives; the renowned stallion of the railroad, The Flying Scotsman.

Simon has warned that participants on this steamy journey of nostalgia should be prepared for a slightly obscene degree of pampering thoughout the day. You will be served a quite excellent silver service Champagne brunch on the downward journey through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and along the English Riviera coast to historic Plymouth. You cap this with a gourmet silver service dinner with wine and more champagne on the return, prepared on board by the chef du train.

Simon's minions take care of all the booking arrangements. All you have to do is decide on the show you wish to see and worry about your waistline on Saturday while you ponder on whether to take champagne at brunch or dinner while the world's most famous steam locomotive The Flying Scotsman dressed in its green livery of the old London North Eastern Railway days flashes across the countryside of southern and western England.

On your return to Victoria you can relax at your hotel on Saturday night and enjoy a full English breakfast and a dyspepsia tablet on the Sunday morning before returning home, having spent a remarkable weekend for just £338 per person inc. service & VAT and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. An early booking is advisable to ensure a place for you and your partner. Contact Darren Knight or Stuart Harding
