The exhibition is very much a part of London's social scene, (The Queen attended this year's Preview), and tickets to the opening private view, when you can meet some of the artists, are normally obtainable from the Special Events Manager.

Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts

WHAT IT IS: The International Festival of Music was founded in 1948 by composer Benjamin Britten, singer Peter Pears and writer producer Eric Crozier in the small Suffolk fishing village of Aldeburgh. The scope and international fame of the festival expanded rapidly and in 1967 the Queen opened a new festival concert hall converted from a mailings inland at Snape. Today the festival brings together artists from all over the world to create and perform classical folk and jazz music. A memorable musical experience. Some 2002 highlights: performances by the Brodsky Quartet,Imogen Cooper, Emmanuelle Haim, Belcea Quartet, Britten-Pears Baroque Orchestra, Till Fellner, Simon Keenlyside, Alfred Brendel, BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Orchestra.
