Royal Britain.

The Queen has returned to Buckingham Palace for a busy month on the Court Circular.

Remembrance Day Weekend
On 10 November The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will attend the annual British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. The following day she attends the annual Remembrance Day wreath laying service at the Cenotaph together with members of the Royal Family, Parliament and Commonwealth dignitaries. Click here for a fuller description of this event.

Mayor Giuliani at Buckingham Palace
The Queen will hold a number of investitures in the State Ballroom at Buckingham Palace during the month. On 29 November Her Majesty will confer an honorary Knighthood on Rudi Giuliani, Mayor of New York, for his services to humanity and the injured and bereaved British citizens following the Manhattan massacre of 11 September. The Mayor is something of a hero in UK and Londoners can be expected to give him a hero's welcome to their city.

Charity Galas
The month sees a number of Gala Balls and theatre performances for charity. Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, attends the Annual Ball in aid of CancerBACUP at the London Hotel Inter-Continental on 16 November. The Duke of Gloucester President, The Cancer Research Campaign, attends a charity performance of My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London WC2. on 19 November. The Queen, Patron of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, and The Duke of Edinburgh, attend the 2001 Royal Variety Performance at the Dominion Theatre, London, W1 on 26 November.
Tickets may be obtained from the relevant charity organizations.

The monthly list of Royal Engagements can be found on the official Buckingham Palace website, Royal Insight and the official St. James's Palace website The Prince of Wales. These may be changed at short notice.

Cultural Events

Fine Art Galleries, London
There are a number of exciting Fine Art exhibitions currently showing in London during November. I admire Peter Kuhfeld's rich and joyful painting of rural England and Italianate vistas of Venice and Florence and always look forward to his annual one-man show at the Patterson Gallery. This year's show is typically full of colour, light and shade. I strongly recommend a visit.

The Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculpters and Gravers, (est. 1895, Patron The Queen), holds its annual Members' exhibition in the Westminster Gallery during November. A visit will show how the inspiration of the great Elizabethan miniaturist Nicholas Hilliard remains undimmed.
