gional cuisine from practically every part of the Globe, and though you can pay an arm and a leg for a meal in a currently fashionable establishment watching a parade of showbusiness names, you can also dine superbly without getting a heart attack when the bill is presented at the end of the meal.

As a rule of thumb I prefer to lunch at midday in a London Pub on traditional English fare, and dine in the evening at a restaurant offering cuisine from some other part of the World. It does nothing good to my waistline but I certainly enjoy my dining out!

After a fruitful but tiring day at the Easter Antiques Market it is time to soak in a relaxing hot bath back at the hotel before venturing out to enjoy the West End on a Spring evening. This is the theatre capital of the world. What better than a couple of front stall tickets to the theatre, rounded off by a candlelit dinner for two!

A visit to the Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly circus, fits the bill nicely: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare - Abridged. In the longest running comedy in Town, a trio of iconoclastic Americans debunk Shakespeare, encapsulating all his works into a riotous 120 minutes. On Tuesdays the same trio perform the same witty surgery on The Complete History of America - Abridged.

The world is our oyster when it comes to dining out in London, whether you enjoy French haute cuisine, down to earth English cooking or spicy ethnic cooking of the Far East, Asia or the Mediterranean. I list some of my favourite restaurants under London Connoisseur Dining

As might be expected the plethora of London churches provide a full calendar of Easter Week services and ritual. Notable are the services at the Anglican St.Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square on Good Friday, Easter Eve and Easter Sunday. Or you can participate in the full majesty of Anglican ritual at Westminster Abbey on these days.

At the remarkably beautiful neo-Byzantine Westminster Cathedral Cardinal Murphy O'Connor will officiate at Divine Services on Good Friday and Easter Eve, and at a Solemn Mass of the Resurrection on Easter Morning. The Cathedral Choir is world-renowned. Happy Easter!
