T in the Park
Date:July 9 -10, 2005.
Venue: Balado, by Kinross, Scotland.
Description: This annual event brings over 69,000 people to watch over 170 bands on 10 stages. Join Scotland's finest festie-goers in a great weekend. But if you have not already bought your tickets book early for next year. 2005 is sold out!

Leicester Belgrave Mela
Date:July 12 - 13, 2005.
Venue: Leicester, Abbey Park
Description: An annual celebration of Asian arts, crafts, cuisine and culture for all the family. There are workshops and a colourful Bollywood Carnival. There is also fairground, but you will probably be so eager to taste the array of live bands, art zones, food, fashion and performances on offer that you will ignore this. If Leicester is too far away, there are melas (from the Sanskrit for 'community celebration') up and down the country (see www.bbc.co.uk/asianlife/events).

Larmer Tree Festival
Date:July 14 - 17, 2005.
Venue: Larmer Tree Gardens, Wiltshire.
Description: Set in eleven acres of garden, surrounded by eastern temples, peacocks and Nepalese pagodas, this family folk event has sold out for the last seven years. Over 50 bands will perform on four stages (most notably Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra).
Entry: Adult tickets include free camping from £27.

Festival at the Edge
Date: July 15 - 17, 2005.
i>Venue: Stoke Barns, Much Wenlock, Shropshire
Description: Fancy a creative alternative? Try this storytelling festival at which the audience are also the entertainers. This 14th annual literary get-together draws on the heritage of the British Isles and reflects its contemporary multicultural makeup. Published authors will regale with their tales and offer advice, while acoustic singers and folk players will provide a magical soundtrack.

Guilfest 2005
Date: July 15 - 17, 2005,
i>Venue: Stoke Park, Guildford, Surrey
Description: Appeals to a wide and varied audience, including families wishing to take advantage of the comprehensive children's area and over 100 craft stalls. This year's line-up is includes The Pogues, Tom Weller and Status Quo. Capacity is for 15,000 per day, with around half of those camping onsite. Kids will thrill to the Darleks from Outer Space of Dr Who fame which are roaming the grounds "Exterminate!"
