Easter Bargains - Spring Bonuses
The one weak spot in this option, for both UK visitors and British residents, has been the appalling overpricing of Channel car ferries for those who wish to take a car abroad and motor at leisure. This is set to change at last. P&O Ferries, sailing out of Dover to Calais, or Portsmouth to Normandy/Le Havre and Spain/Bilbao, has announced slashing price cuts, admitting that they must compete with the no-frill airlines for business. This will inevitably result in a price war with the other cross-Channel operators, SeaFrance and Eurotunnel, which are now £30 more expensive against the new P&O Ferry price of £60 return for a car and passengers. P&O CEO Russ Peters admitted that it had taken the Ferry Lines a disproportionate amount of time to catch up with the airlines, adding that "low cost airlines introduced a whole new concept of low cost travel. It has taken us some time but we are now going head to head with them." Mr Peters emphasised that their new fare structure was a better value than low price airlines prices, because customers were paying per car rather than per person. Given the baggage/weight restrictions that no-frills airlines also place on customers, a motoring vacation in UK combined with Europe now looks like an enticing alternative to air travel for family or friendly groups of four or more. If a motoring cavation in UK and or Europe appeals to you, take a look at Holiday Autos. They have some excellent Spring Offers on car rental.
