For the past two years I have booked theatre tickets through specialists London Theatrebreaks. They engaged my devoted and undivided patronage when they managed to acquire two centre front stalls for my Lady and me at 24 hours notice for a sell-out West End production. I suspect they were the Management's House seats. On such occasions it's not what you know but who you know. I now receive their regular witty and erudite newsletter which makes both enjoyable as well as informative reading. I recommend it to you.
They have tickets for The New World on Friday 28 April. A triple bill by the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House featuring the wonderful Sylvie Guillem in The Concert, with music by Tchaikovsky, Chopin and Charles Ives. The other two pieces are George Balanchine's Serenade and the world premiere of The Crucible based on Arthur Miller's drama. The accommodation is at the four star Bailey's Hotel and the price is a ridiculous £85 per person including best ticket, bed, continental breakfast, service and VAT based on two people sharing a twin or double room. I had to check that price to ensure it wasn't an error. The Opera Offer is for The Greek Passion by Martinu on Saturday 29 April, or Friday 5 May. The package not only includes bed and breakfast at a choice of four star hotels but also a free glass of wine before the performance or during the interval. With best seats the package is £125 but if you would rather opt for cheaper seats then the package can be as little as £69. Again all prices are based on two people sharing a twin / double room. Similar offers for a midweek performance are available for 25 April, 3 May or 8 May at a small supplement. Chicago is celebrating its 1000th performance and there are healthy discounts on all theatre breaks including tickets for mid-week evening performances and weekend matinees. Deluxe three star theatre breaks from £79 and four star breaks from £89 are on offer. Go To Page: 1 2
