So, you thought that since Christmas was over, you could relax, right? Wrong. It's already time to start planning for your New Year's entertaining. Here are some recipe links and some ideas to get you started.
As a variation to the standard "chips and dip," set out a platter of your dried vegetables, or Potato Skins and one or more of these dips: Lentil Butter (I do a variation of this one using my own canned black-eyed peas---appropriate for New Year's parties, don't you think?) If you froze any basil, or, better yet, any pesto, turn it into a party dip. Just stir some pesto into cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, or a combination, and cut some Italian bread into 1 1/2 inch cubes to use for dipping. Try serving focaccio, a wonderful Italian bread, that is delicious alone, or used with dips. Serve it with your favorite warm pizza or spaghetti sauce, or with the Garlic or Pesto Dips mentioned above. Or serve a platter of fresh or dried fruit and this dip: Looking for some different drinks to serve? And don't forget to used those Christmas leftovers by making sandwiches of thinly sliced roast, ham, or turkey. Whether you celebrate the New Year with family, with friends, or alone, enjoying the end of the holiday hub-bub, make it a safe, healthy beginning to another year. After the first of the year, I will concentrate once again on food preservation methods, so you can begin to make your garden plans accordingly. Happy New Year! Go To Page: 1
