Handprint stepping stone
With so many important gift giving occasions coming soon (Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.)...think about giving the gift of your child's handiwork....literally!

Supplies

Large plastic bucket
Bag of premixed concrete
Water
Large stirring stick
Large foil pan (3x12x16)
Petroleum Jelly

Directions

Following the directions listed on cement bag, mix enough cement and water to fill your foil pan. Pour the cement into the pan, keeping the pan on a level surface. Use the side of a board or stick to level and smooth the cement.

After 20 minutes, cover your child's hands with petroleum jelly. Have your child press their hands into the cement. Add the date and their name.

Allow the cement to harden and set. Carefully invert the pan so that the cement block pops out.

Give your timepice cement blocks to family or friends to place in their gardens or yards.

Optional

1. Press weatherproof items into your cement block.

  • Rocks or stones
  • Mosaic tiles/pieces
  • Colored gems or marbles
  • Shells

2. Purchase plastic molds in assorted shapes.

  • Many craft stores sell plastic molds in octagon, heart, round, and many other shapes to create your stone.

3. Decorate with paint.

  • Use an outdoor/weatherproof paint to add additional decoration to your stone.
