A Funnel of Love?

© Angelica R. Van Norman

If you need a quick gift for that Valentine, or want something to put a smile on someone's face....pull out the funnel. As a matter of fact, pull out all the funnels and make "kisses" that anyone would be pleased to recieve.

Chocolate Crisp Rice "Kiss"

1 pk Powdered sugar (1 lb.)
1/2 c Cocoa
1/2 c Margerine (1 cube)
1/4 c Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 c Chopped walnuts

Combine all the ingredients except the vanilla and walnuts in a 2 qt. casserole. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Add vanilla and walnuts and stir into the mixture. Pour into a generously buttered large funnel (fasten a piece of foil over the end with a rubber band) making sure you fill the spout end. Place the funnel in a tumbler or cup and set into the freezer or refrigerator until set. Carefully unmold and wrap with foil creating a big "kiss". You can add a streamer similar to those found on Hershey Kisses to finish it.

Solid Chocolate Kiss

Chocolate
Round funnel
Mug
Double boiler or microwave and microwave safe bowl
Non-stick cooking spray

Directions:

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. Be sure to watch it carefully, and stir it occasionally. Place tin foil over the small end of the funnel, closing it off. Spray a small amount of non-stick spray into the funnel. Place the funnel into the coffee mug to hold it upright. Pour the melted chocolate into the funnel, and put into the freezer for about 45 minutes to harden. If you desire, take a strip of white paper and write your Valentines message on it. Remove the chocolate from the funnel, and wrap it in foil, tucking the message in near the point. Leave some of the message sticking out.

Chocolate Candy Dough "Kiss"

10 ounces of milk chocolate chips or chocolate bar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
Foil
Waxed Paper

Melt the chocolate in a microwave for about 1 minute, stirring at 30 second intervals. If chocolate is not completely melted, return to the microwave for 30 seconds at a time and stir until smooth.
*STOVE TOP: melt in double boiler on top of stove, stirring frequently until chocolate is melted and smooth.
When the chocolate is melted, add the corn syrup and blend. Pour the mixture onto a waxed paper sheet. Spread the chocolate with your fingers until it's about 1/2 inch thick. Cover loosely with waxed paper and let it stiffen overnight. The chocolate will become pliable like "dough". Roll the dough into a ball shape, large enough to place inside the funnel. Press the dough into the funnel, conforming to it's shape. Place funnel into refrigerator for 10 minutes to harden chocolate. Remove from refrigerator and unmold. Wrap in foil and add small paper message if desired.
