Fresh New Links

It's been just too long since I've searched around the web to find new food links. Each time I do I find new tools, new recipe sources and lots of updates and site name changes. With Spring arriving in full force, now is a great time to update my links and give you the low-down.

Here are some new favorites:

  • Ichef - a straightforward site with weekly recipes, online forums, links etc. A nice clean design and cheerful attitude make this an easy to use and fun site to explore. It also houses the Radio Chef, a link which allows you to listen to a short talk show about food.
  • The Cook's Thesaurus - need to know the difference between Barley and Triticale? This is your place. A wonderful online resource for every cook,it offers definitions, substitutions and pictures of thousands of food ingredients and cooking tools. A great find!
  • Everydaycook.com - another simple, yet informative site offering tips, a recipe library, new recipes weekly and trivia questions (a personal favorite!).
  • Meals.com - a beautiful food site, well designed and easy to navigate through. This is all about meal planning and recipe selection. They offer tools for choosing recipes for each day of the week and then creating a grocery list based on your recipe selection. This is a great tool for the average cook trying to get dinner on the table. Over 10,000 simple recipes to make meal planning easy (a bit too easy for my taste, but I'm an admitted food snob!).
  • CTC.com - what a find! Looking for exotic ingredients for your next Asian feast? Look no further. Bring the list to CTC.com and shop away. They offer quality Asian groceries delivered to your door. If you are specifically looking for Japanese food, try this site: !Healthy!Tasty! . If Spanish cooking is more your thing, check out Tienda.com, recipes, links and shopping for all those hard to find Spanish ingredients.
  • The Global Gourmet seems to be the current incarnation of such long time favorites as the Electronic Gourmet Guide) and foodwine.com. This makes Global Gourmet quite an impressive place to start browsing. They also offer favorite tools such as: Global Destinations (recipes from all over the world) and Gourmet Guess (a fun food trivia game where you can win cookbooks and baking products).
