Little People Among Us© Virginia Marin
By way of introduction, I am Lady Dubh_Sidhe,
mistress and keeper of Dubh_Sidhe's Garden.
Welcome to the new fiction output at
Suite101.com--Folklore. Here you can read about
a multitude of "Little People" and the magical,
mystical and wonderful happenings in their land of make-believe.
Over the years, I have come to realize that artists, poets, writers, sculptors, musicians, lovers and others who enjoy the arts, have a depth of gratitude to pay to the these invisible, visible-at-will, capricious, unidentifiable, elusive, sensitive and powerful creatures. The World of Faerie is also a world of dark and light enchantments, captivating beauty, gross ugliness, humor, joy, mischief, inspiration, laughter, love and tragedy. In fact, faerie covers the range of all human emotions as well as entertainment. So, join me and all of the "Little People" for a new and exciting article every other week, right here at Suite101.com where your rewards will be enchanting. Now, let's pretend! The story is told of an author who went into a bookstore and happened to go to the section which displayed his most recent book. As he turned the corner, he came upon a large cardboard dragon, holding a copy of his book and breathing fire. He said to the dragon, "Don't you know this is a non-smoking area"? And the dragon replied, "I know, but I can't help it. This is a very hot book!" As you can see, it is always good to know what to say to a dragon just in case you should come upon one! It is exciting to read about dragons, to learn about their personality, and to enjoy their legendary stories. It is just as anticipative to read about faeries, elves, gnomes, spriggans, trolls, mermaids, tales of King Arthur, and a myriad of other "little people." Take gnomes for example. A gnome is a miniature-like person, with actual human features. A male gnome usually wears a red pointed cap, blue shirt, green pants, and little fur boots. Around his tunic is a leather belt to which is attached a tool kit. He wears a white beard, moustache, and little wisps of white hair. Any day, he could pass as one of Santa's elves. There are several types of gnomes: woodland, dune, garden, farm, house, Siberian, and there are those few who choose to live in a windmill. Go To Page: 1 2
