Solitude Among the Faeries

Sep 3, 1999 - © Virginia Marin

I go to the spa every morning. I long for that first toe into the hot soothing water. Then to slowly submerge into its non-intimidating warmth is pure bliss! As the soothing bubbles and massage say "Relax"-- my thinking becomes more honest in regards to what is causing me stress. I can see more clearly what I must do to keep healthy and to enhance my life; to formulate new plans for today and for the future.

The spa which I enjoy the most is outside. It is surrounded by lush vegetation of green and brightly colored flowers, whose fragrances pervade the breeze. The butterflies, with their vividly colored wings, play within my vision, and I imagine that they are faeries from Dubh Sidhe's Faerie Garden.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a spa. Relax your body in front of the invigorating jets. Embrace the hot water swirling about your tired being. Feel the bubbles and the stinging massage of pulsating water fingers. Hear the aqualine rush as it belches and erupts endlessly. Smell the freshness of effervescent water or the piquancy of sulphur.

Take a deep breath and force all of the foibles from your mind. Imagine that you are at the seashore. The salt air is stimulating. Concentrate on the waves, the seagulls, the sand beneath you and the sun's warmth on your skin.

Or perhaps you would rather be in the country, resting in a hammock. Feel the gentle breeze. The grass and flowers are beautiful and you marvel at the myriad fragrances and colors.

Focus on a single image that brings peace to your soul--a flower, bubbling brook or being lulled by the rhythmic motion of a rocking chair or swing. Feel the peace, the quietness-- the enchantment...

...You have found solitude among the faeries.
