Triad Folklorethe folklore hits a bump in the road and the good guys win however briefly. For decades, the Triads had been infiltrating the Hong Kong Police. It was payback time. Do not ask what would have happened to Rodney and Sandy if they had been exposed. It is better that you do not know. In 1979, the duo set themselves up as street hawkers in Mongkok, in the heart of one of the more notorious Triad groups known as 14K. They remained undercover for a considerable time, working their way up the ranks. Talk about leading a double life! In 1981, Rodney succeeded in being put up for membership in the 14K and eventually secured convictions against seven top 14K officials. Gradually the Hong Kong Police force was cleaned up and could no longer be referred to as the finest police force in the world that money could buy. An age long mingling of the way of Tao, ancestor worship, shamanism,Buddhism and Confucianism provide a ritualistic permanence, I am sad to say.
