Miscanthus sinensis,'Little Zebra', is sitting happily in a new border where its green and chartreuse horizontal stripes add spice and boldness. Taking full sun, this Oriental native is a dwarf mutation and eventually reaches four feet tall. The summer merlot-colored plumage will contrast nicely flanked by my new additions of Ilex crenata, 'Sky Pencil' Japanese holly and a new variety of Heavenly Bamboo, Nandina domestica.spp. called 'Sienna Sunrise'.

Whew...now that was just the first half hour of planting, wait until you hear the rest of my treasure trove.

I've driven north, many times, with a carload of plants from that same section of North Carolina. You didn't say what nurseries you'd shopped at, ...
