Happy New Year from Florida

© Vickie Ferguson

Hi everyone and welcome to Florida Fun. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stopped by this past year. Your comments and emails are always a welcome surprise and I've enjoyed sharing my life here in the Sunshine state with all of you.

I look forward to another year and more travel adventures around the state that I can share with you.

We're ending the year 2004 on a high note as the temperature today is 68 degrees with an expected high over the week end to be near 80!

Keep in mind, we were done in the 30 degree mark just this past week. I've got a sore throat to vouch for the craziness of the weather!

Many people have ventured down for the Christmas holidays and many more will be making their way here this weekend to bring in the New Year.

One of our fellow writers here at Suite101, Mary Alward, who is also the Community Manager for the Kids Korner, is coming down to Orlando and bringing her two grandson's for some extra special fun at Disney. If time permits, they might even be able to visit the newly opened Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven.

What a great way to spend the weekend and the weather will be perfect for visiting the house of the Mouse!

If you're venturing this way for the first time, remember not only do we have Disney in Orlando, we also have Epcot Center, MGM and Universal Studios (my favorite) in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, Cypress Gardens just down the road in Winter Haven, Bok Towers in Lake Wales and heading into Tampa you'll find Busch Gardens, Adventure Island and Lowry Park Zoo.

If you go across one of three bridges out of Tampa, you'll be headed towards the white sandy beaches of Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach. While in St. Petersburg, you can also visit the Pier, which sits right out in the bay, the Dali museum and all the boutiques and restaurants that are all within walking distance of the Pier.

If you head towards Sarasota, you'll find the beautiful Ringling Museum and not far from there in Myakka City, you can visit the world famous Royal Lipizzaner stallion headquarters and see these truly magnificent animals in action. Please check this link for directions and more information: http://www.herrmannslipizzans.com/winter...

As you can see, there's lots to do and we're only traveling down a portion of the west coast, so grab a towel and come on down.

The weather there sounds beautiful! Yours sounds like ours, Tina, but it has warmed up the past few days.

I enjoyed your article. So much to see and do, it sounds like a lot of fun. I have to admit that the part about 68 degrees, maybe getting into the 80's is very appealing as I sit in my house looking o ...
