Cypress Gardens Reopens!

The long awaited and much anticipated reopening of Cypress Gardens took place yesterday, Friday, November 26th, 2004.

The 67-year old park was closed last year and its future was unknown and under discussion for many months but finally after being purchased, revamped and renovated, the park, renamed Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, offers not only the magnificent gardens and lovely southern belles strolling the garden paths, but the ski-show that Cypress Gardens is famous for has also been brought back and will have daily shows at Mango Bay.

One of the wonderful things about the reopening of the gardens is that many of the former employees have been brought back to new positions.

The opening was a "pre-opening" so the new operation of the park could be tweaked out and any problems addressed before the official grand opening on December 9th.

The park has over 30 rides, 4 of these are roller coasters, a wild animal area featuring native species, Jubilee Junction village where you'll find a variety food specialities from chili dogs and philly steak sandwiches to Italian pizza, gourmet coffee and fresh baked key lime pie.

There are numerous speciality shops and handmade crafts at the village, Snively Mansion which features fine dining and lovely gardens, an ice show featuring figure skating at the Royal Palm Theatre, topiary trail with several examples of this art form and a butterfly garden chocked full of flittering beauties.

Currently there are 19 concerts and events scheduled, so if you plan on visiting, be sure to see who'll be on stage. General admission to the concerts is included in the park admission price, so this is a pretty good deal. Now through February, the price of admission is $29.95. Season passes are available and 25,000 have already been purchased so it looks like the gardens are off to a good start.

A visit to Cypress Gardens was a real treat before and now with the new additions, it will be even more so.

If you're planning a visit to Florida or if you live here, plan on setting aside a full day (suggested) to enjoy all that the park has to offer.

Please check out Cypress Gardens Adventure Park at their web site that is so new, it's still being updated with photos and show information! http://cypressgardens.com/welcome.asp

The first show will be a 3-D laser and fireworks show celebrating the Christmas season and will be featured over Lake Eloise.

If anyone has an opportunity to visit the park anytime soon, please share your experience with us.
