Salt Rock Grille - Restaurant Review

This month I'm starting on a different aspect of my Florida Fun topic and that is to periodically do a review of many of the restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.

My first review will be for the Salt Rock Grill located at 19325 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores, Florida.

Situated beside the intercoastal waterway on one side and the Gulf of Mexico across the street, you have the best of both worlds as you watch the boats coast gently down the intercoastal while the jet skis fly across the ocean waves!

I had the pleasure of dining at the Salt Rock, for the first time, this past Thursday. My family went there for dinner to celebrate my brother's 40th birthday.

We arrived at 9:00 p.m. and were seated in the dining area facing the intercoastal waterway. Large glass windows encompass the whole back and side walls so the view of twinkling lights, boats gently rocking in the water and the occasional craft gliding by is very relaxing.

The decor inside the restaurant is polished wood floors, a clear portion of the floor where you can see the wine cellar below, huge glass windows, interesting paintings and crisp white linen.

The outside dining terrace is spacious with ample seating to allow a lovely dinner while enjoying the gentle breezes from the waterway and the ocean.

The menu is spectacular! I started off by ordering the jumbo coconut crusted shrimp with orange-ginger sauce. They were absolutely scrumptious.

Our waiter brought fresh bread and an olive oil/herb dip along with either a Caesar or house salad. Both were excellent.

As you can see from their menu, they offer a variety of entrees.

In our group we ordered the fire roasted lobster tail, full order of jumbo coconut shrimp, Alaskan king crab legs, pan seared tuna and the fire grilled porterhouse steak.

I had the steak and it was so tender, I could cut it with a fork and it was cooked exactly as I ordered it. The taste of the steak was exquisite and truly mouth-watering.

The lobster was brought out in the shell, which was quickly removed by the waiter, and served with hot drawn butter. I had a taste and it literally melted in my mouth.

The crab legs portion was generous and I was told by my niece, Erica, that the crabmeat was delicious. My sister-in-law had the seared tuna and it definitely passed her taste test. The coconut shrimp were, as we had already determined, very large, tasty and cooked to perfection.
