It’s unlike any show you’ve seen before. You are spellbound as you watch the explosion of movement, sounds and colors in La Nouba at the Cirque du Soleil theater at Downtown Disney West End at Orlando’s Walt Disney World. If you are planning a visit to the Disney area, include Cirque du Soleil in your plans. More than 70 artists from around the world -- including gymnasts, acrobats, dancers and clowns -- take artistic energy to riveting new heights in La Nouba, according to a Walt Disney World news release. With its original musical score, extraordinary costumes, surreal sets, theatrical lighting and high-energy choreography, La Nouba weaves an unforgettable 90-minute tapestry of art, life and high drama on an Elizabethan-style stage in a 1,671-seat theater designed to engage and delight audiences. Shows take place twice daily, five days a week. La Nouba originates from the French expression "faire la Nouba," which means "to party, to live it up." La Nouba transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, engaging the imagination from beginning to end. Featuring mesmerizing high wire and flying trapeze, stunning acro-gymnastic performances and other dynamic displays of coordination and strength, La Nouba promises to surprise, excite and mystify. "We have a team working to achieve something artistically and emotionally satisfying to the audience," says Jacques Marois, general manager of the Americas Division of Cirque du Soleil. "At the same time, there is this very thrilling element that keeps people on the edge of their seats." Franco Dragone, writer and director for Cirque du Soleil, brings this captivating dream-like spectacle to reality. Dragone is joined by the acclaimed Cirque du Soleil creative team including director of creation Gilles Ste-Croix, choreographer Debra Brown, lighting designer Luc Lafortune, composer Benoit Jutras, set designer Michel CrĂȘte, costume designer Dominique Lemieux and sound designers Francois Bergeron and Jonathan Deans.
