What's new for Florida visitors? Here's 60 things this spring


Orlando recently celebrated the grand opening of the 1,100-room gated community, which showcases a 312-room Courtyard by Marriott, 388-room Fairfield Inn and 400-suite Spring Hills Suites, along with a European style food court and convenience store.

24. Marriott’s Cypress Harbour, located in the heart of Orlando area attractions, is offering vacationers an opportunity to enjoy the comfort of a furnished two-bedroom villa for $199 per night, April 29-June 2. Each villa features a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining areas, master suite with stretch-and-soak whirlpool spa and a utility room with washer/dryer. Guests of Marriott’s Cypress Harbour will discover a tropical, recreational island featuring a sand beach with volleyball courts and a boathouse with paddleboats, fishing gear and bike rentals.

25. Marriott’s Royal or Sabal Palm Villas in Orlando also are offering two-bedroom villas for $199, April 29-June 2. Each villa overlooks the 18-hole Hawks Landing championship golf course, is conveniently located within minutes of area attractions and features heated pools, fitness centers and much more.

26. Mennello Museum of American Folk Art in Orlando will host Crossroad Quilters, an exhibition of handmade quilts, March 15-May 27. Visitors will be able to meet the artists Saturday, April 21 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

27. Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows presents the revival of the comedy-mystery show, "Joshua’s Demise." This show is one of eight performed at the dinner theater in Orlando. Sleuths presents participatory mysteries 365 days a year, both at the theater and on the road. The 2 ½-hour show includes hors d’ oeuvres, dinner, desert, and unlimited beverages. While eating, guests can formulate questions for the suspects and will have the opportunity to solve the mystery and receive a prize.

28. Bringing back an elegance of years past, the opulent Westin Grand Bohemian in Orlando will create an "experience in art and music" when the $37 million property opens in April. The 14-story hotel with 9,600 square feet of meeting space was developed by Orlando hotelier Richard Kessler and is situated diagonally across Orange Avenue from City Hall. Its 120-seat Boheme Restaurant will offer exotic cuisine with a European flare.

29. The Storm will whirl its way into Wet ‘n Wild in Orlando this spring. Riders of the water park’s newest adventure will be washed down a towering chute, swirled around a bowl at high speeds and tumbled into a splash landing.
