Healthier Lifestyle for the New Year

1. They exclude whole food categories, like meat, protein or dairy products.

2. They overemphasize the importance of certain foods (eg. cabbage, rice) often at the expense of other foods in the diet.

3. They promote eating food in a certain way, such as eat soft foods like peaches only in the afternoon.

4. They do not not encorage physical activity or other lifestyle changes.

5. They make unrealistic promises. There may be times when you get into a slump and feel like giving up. In this case, stop and think about your original goal and the reason for making your New Year Resolution. This will prompt you to get going again. Think about the reason why you are in a slump. Is it bordom, lack of time - - whatever the reason, try to find a solution to it. Maybe you have set your goals too high. Reassess your situation.

With this thought in mind, you will achieve your goals in no time - - ready for the next year's set of resolutions - - perhaps only to to maintain what you have achieved!

Good luck and have a healthy New Year.
