The Badge On My ChestI wear a badge on my chest, A simple reminder to me, Of the fact I am a firefighter, No matter where I may be. The badge is not of magic, Nor is it a good luck charm, It is not meant to protect me, From dangers extending arm. It is not for identification, For all the world to see, It is simply an understanding, Between my fellow firefighters and me. It reminds me to be thankful, For my blessings, day by day, And to strive and serve YOU better, In all I do and say. It is a daily reminder, Of the peace and comfort I share, With all who know my calling, And the amount that I care. So I wear a badge on my chest, Reminding no one but me, That firefighting is my life, As it is plain to see. This peom is dedicated to those affected by the terrors that occured on September 11, 2001. I salute those who paid the ultimate price in trying to save those trapped and injured, who tried to make a difference and those who flew Old Glory high and strong. Freedom will indeed ring strongly once more. Thank you to all those who helped in the recovery process and those who donated must needed supplies. Without you, where would we be. And to the families of the victims, my heart and soul are woth you. Beacuse as the saying goes........ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!
