The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation of volunteer men and women dedicated to providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of United States Marines and children of former Marines in their pursuit of higher education.

As we hover at the midpoint of the year, all of us in the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation continue to be profoundly grateful and deeply appreciative of the tremendous support that we have received to help us carry out the Foundation's purposes.

Our dedicated cadre of volunteers across America, and the individuals, corporations, small businesses, organizations, and other foundations who generously support our efforts, made 1998 a record year for the Foundation. From the revenues generated by the five Scholarship Balls, the Golf Tournaments, and other fundraising events, contributions, and grants, the Foundation was able to award a record number of scholarships for the coming academic year. While the numbers are not yet final, they are truly staggering.

The sole purpose of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of United States Marines; and to children of former Marines in their pursuit of higher education. One-year scholarships are awarded annually and are limited to undergraduate studies at accredited educational/technical institutions. Scholarships are not automatically renewable. Current scholarship recipients must reapply each year and are limited to a total of four awards.

Eligible applicants must be: The son/daughter of an active duty U. S. Marine in good standing, OR The son/daughter of a former U. S. Marine who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge or was killed while serving in the Marine Corps, AND A high school senior, high school graduate, or registered as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or post high school vocational/technical institution. (Scholarship awards are not available for graduate study.) AND The 1999 combined family income is targeted at $45,000.
