Believing in the importance of acknowledging the fine accomplishments of high-achieving young people, the Maxwell Foundation is offering financial assistance of $3,500 for the 2000-01 academic year. Students who plan to attend accredited independent colleges or universities and who are bona fide residents of Western Washington are urged to apply in early 2000. It is anticipated that scholarships for that academic year (other than renewals of previously awarded scholarships) will be limited to entering freshmen, with combined SAT scores of over 1200.
The scholarships are designed to provide assistance to those who have demonstrated financial need and have shown ability, aptitude, and a promise of useful citizenship. Each recipient will be a living memorial to Edmund F. Maxwell.
