SLFA is a private, not-for-profit agency incorporated in 1982. Located in Seattle, Washington, SLFA purchases student loans and provides a variety of financial and educational services to borrowers, schools, and lenders throughout the Pacific Northwest.
As a not-for-profit agency, SLFA devotes all of its funds to acquiring additional student loans and freeing up capital for new students. This allows SLFA to fulfill the needs of our borrowers, schools and lenders. SLFA provides products and services designed to help ease repayment through flexible repayment options and to provide students with accurate and timely information about loans, grants and other financial aid options. Fiscal year 1998 resounded with substantial accomplishments for SLFA. Gerlicher Treasurer SLFA's Community Service Repayment Assistance Program The Community Service Repayment Assistance Program provides student loan repayment relief to borrowers who forgo lucrative salaries to pursue community service careers after completing their graduate or professional courses of study. The program helps employees of public service agencies working in fields such as legal, health care, social and education services repay their student loans. Through the program, SLFA will pay $200 per month toward a borrower's student loan debt for a maximum of 36 months. To maintain eligibility for this assistance, borrowers must continue to work for an agency participating in SLFA's Repayment Assistance Program Public service agencies must first apply for participation in SLFA's Community Service Repayment Assistance Program before their employees may participate
