Everybody Wants Something for FREE!

© Shauna Zamarripa

Everybody likes to get something for free, right? Well this week I would like to take the opportunity to discuss with you where, and how you can receive free money for college. I have scoured the net in an attempt to find information relating to "free money," and have found several wonderful sources for extensive grant and "0" interest loan information. Some of the information I have listed is accessible on the Net, while others you have to write or call to obtain. All of the sources, however, are worth the time to check out and apply for. And remember if in doubt, apply for aid with a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Grants are perhaps the best type of financial aid that there is. A grant is a "free" money type of award in which (for most grants) the only qualification is financial need, making a grant normally the easiest type of financial aid one can get. However, sometimes it is difficult and time consuming to find all of the grant sources that there are, and one can become discouraged very easily. One great source to look for grants from is Grants Guide Mailing List. This information source contains over 2,000 new and active funding sources for over 10,000 applicants' worldwide. This guide provides the seeker with the funding address, net worth, and financial need requirements for each grant, and each is detailed in its purpose, which can range from Arts and Literature to Personal Financial need. Just to give you an idea of how much is available in total funds listed in this source: $14,625 is available just for education; $24,638 is available for research; $11,827 is available for Arts & Culture; $1,545 for Personal support. So as you can see this is a very valuable booklet if you are trying to find a grant suitable for your needs and financial situation. The Grants Guide is currently sold for $19.95 and if you are interested in more information you can visit the web site at http://www.cmp3.clara.net/orderinfo.shtm...

Below, I have listed other publications that can assist you in where to look for college funding. None of these have web site resources, but you can try looking them up at Amazon.com or Barnes and Nobel, or any book store you choose to find them, or write to the address I have provided. "Free College Money + Term papers and Sex Ed" by Matthew Lesko. For information write to P.O. Box 'E', Kensington, MD 20895.
