Divas on Ice: An evening with Katerina Witt and friends.

Recently, NBC Sports aired Divas on Ice, featuring Katerina Witt and eight other skaters. Included in the lineup was Nancy Kerrigan, Rosalynn Sumners, Surya Bonaly, Nicole Bobek, Yuka Sato, Denise Biellmann, Ekaterina Gordeeva, and Caryn Kadavy. This event was sponsored by Alberto V05, and was held in Hershey, Pa., at the Hershey Park Arena.

Performing live was Dave's True Story, Chely Wright, and Chante Moore. The opening number was I'm in the Mood for Love, performed by Dave's True Story. All nine skaters took to the ice as "It had to be you" was performed.

Next, Rosalynn Sumners skated to "Botch A Me", followed by Surya Bonaly skating to "Primal Fear". Denise Biellmann looked absolutely fabulous as she skated to "Phyque" by Buddha Bar, as did Caryn Kadavy to "This Moment is Mine", performed live by Chante Moore. I was particularly impressed with the way Yuka Sato skated to "Take my Hand" by Dido. One of the most memorable in terms of costumes was that worn by Nancy Kerrigan as she skated to "Kiss of the Spider Woman" from the broadway soundtrack.

Ekaterina Gordeeva skated to "Fosse", another broadway soundtrack, and Katerina Witt skated to "Fever" by Dave's True Story. Next, Nicole Bobek skated live to Chely Wright singing "Single White Female", followed by Nicole, Caryn, and Rosalyn skating to "Fire" also performed by Chely Wright. Denise Biellmann entered the ice again to skate to Britney Spear's "Satisfaction".

Finishing up the evening was Ekaterina Gordeva skating to "Beautiful" from the Autumn in NY soundtrack, Caryn Kadavy to "Ojos Asi" by Shakira, Rosalyn Sumners to "Crush" by Jennifer Paige, Nancy Kerrigan to "Lucky" by Britney Spears, Yuka Sato to "Straight Up" by Chante Moore, and Katerina Witt to "Case Continued" by Ute Lempir.

The final number included all the members of the cast entering the ice to "Spasm" by Dave's True Story. Lastly, an encore number featured the individual skaters in the spotlight to a montage of their own music. Entering the ice first was Caryn Kadavy, followed by Denise Biellmann, Nicole Bobek, Rosalynn Sumners, Yuka Sato, Surya Bonaly, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Nancy Kerrigan, and finally Katerina Witt.

I enjoyed this presentation, as it offered a bit of variety from the usual events that we have seen. I am particularly thrilled when the skaters get to skate to live music. This blend of artistry from skater, musician, and vocalist creates an enjoyable and entertaining package.
