Oh, what an exciting night it was. On Monday, Nov. 13 at 9, ESPN aired coverage of the ISU Grand Prix: Skate Canada from the Hershey Center in Canada. Narrated by Terry Gannon, Peter Carruthers, and Suzie Wynne, this event featured the short programs for the Pairs, Mens, Ice Dancing Original Dance, and the Ladies. The short program is two minutes and forty seconds on length, and must contain a certain list of required elements. Missing just one of these elements results in an automatic 3/10ths of a deduction. The short program is worth 1/3 of the overall score, whereas the long program makes up the remaining 2/3.
Pairs were on ice first, and were judged by Jpn, Fra, Rus, Chn, Can, USA, and Pol. The results were as follows: 1: Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze (Rus), 2: Sale/Pelletier (Can), 3: Petrova/Tikhonov (Rus), 4: Pang/Tong (Chn), and 5: Zagorska/Siudek (Pol).
Next was the Mens short, with the following results: 1: Alexei Yagudin (Rus), 2: Todd Eldredge (USA), 3: Takeshi Honda (Jpn), 4: Ben Ferreira (Can), and 5: Matt Savoie (USA). These men were judged by Jpn, Can, Gbr, Ger, Rus, Fra, Chn, Hun, and USA.
The Ice Dancing Original Dance was next, and was judged by Jpn, Can, Pol, Isr, Fra, Ukr, and USA. The results were: 1: Anissina/Peizerat (Fra), 2: Chait/Sakhnovsky (Isr), 3: Dubreuil/Lazon (Can), and 4: Grushina/Goncharov (Ukr).
Lastly, the Ladies took the ice, and were judged by Ukr, USA, Ger, Rus, Can, Jpn, Gbr, Hun, Den. The results were: 1: Irina Slutskaya (Rus), 2: Michelle Kwan (USA), 3: Fumie Suguri (Jpn), 4: Galina Maniachenko (Ukr), 5: Jennifer Robinson (Can), and 6: Deanna Stellato (USA).
The Pairs/Ice Dance long program will be aired on Lifetime on Nov. 17 from 9 to 11 p.m. EST, and the Mens/Ladies long program will be aired on ABC on Nov. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. EST. Stay tuned for more results!
