End of Summer Remix!

You can't imagine what sort of confidence a win like that is going to bring to my ice skating practice this season. Really after the gut wrenching hardship I endured on the race course,(cliffs, sand traps, rocks and wash outs), practicing my jumps will seem like a walk in the park. Experiences like that not only build up your muscles, but give you a level of mental toughness as a competitor that perhaps you didn't realize you had. It is all about testing yourself and not backing down from a challenge.

This applies if you are learning, testing or competing. I compete against myself each time, to do better than I did last time on that jump or spin. I challenge myself to get my crossover techniques right and equal in both directions. In other words, slackers needn't apply. You begin to realize that you'll need to go beyond your present comfort level if you want to see real progress. If also helps to have faith in a Power greater than your own. There's a saying, "There's no atheists in foxholes". Sometimes you have to put yourself under a difficult task such as a race or competition to learn that: 1.) You can have faith in God as He doesn't make junk and you can achieve your goal. 2.) You can believe in yourself, especially if you have prepared well for the task.

Therefore as we now gear up for the 2005 skating season, I have so much to be grateful for. My cross training experience this summer has been phenomenal! We've not totally abandoned our skating over the summer in exchange for our cycling and hiking experiences. No, no. We've added a good amount of inline skating which due to the friction, requires more effort and strength than ice skating. My Pic Skates have really held up for me in that area. I get so many compliments on how beautiful they are and how much skating in them resembles ice skating. They do because they behave, react and perform very much as an ice skate. In case you don't know what Pic Skates are, you can learn all about this unique, rockered, artistic inline skate at: http://www.picskate.com

I would definitely recommend getting a pair of these for off ice training as they are amazingly similar to ice skates. With the price of gas skyrocketing, you may find it closer to travel to your local
