Music to Go: HighGear's TrailAudioWell, what does this mean for us ice skaters? In one word...FREEDOM! No longer will you have to argue and fight with the other coaches and skaters over the rink CD player during the freestyle session. You will have your own music to listen to even before you get on the ice. You also won't have to lug around a CD or MP3 which is too heavy and not suited for athletics. The case is both splash proof and impact resistant. The buttons are also easy to press even with gloved fingers with a button lock which prevents accidental activation. These are all features you won't find on most MP3's. Once again, if you need quick and easy access to your music, you'll not need a unit that holds 1,000 plus songs. The TrailAudio 512 holds lots of music files but for your 2 minute or 3 ½ minute program, you'll see this is a much better unit for the task. You can even set it to repeat the playback of a certain song or series of songs as if on a loop. No other MP3 player that I've seen is as suitable for participating in outdoor activities such as cycling, running, jogging either. In fact, one would be quite disappointed to see how fragile many of these MP3 players really are if they should get caught in the rain. The TrailAudio while not being waterproof, is splash proof. There are rubber seals around the battery compartment and covering the line in ports. Our Spring 2005 X-Training Photo Gallery is now up and the TrailAudio is right up there because it is a perfect companion for all such activities. Check it out here: http://www.angelfire.com/ak/anakee/xtrai... On the ice, the TrailAudio is a great choice as lugging around other units is not only cumbersome but dangerous. The only thing I would recommend is changing the back of the neck headphones out for some "in-ear" models. This is because during jumps, back of the neck headphones can lift up and get out of position. It wasn't a big issue but if you're doing multiple rotation jumps you might want to consider the in ear models or perhaps get covers for the earphones to make them fit more snugly. I'm just starting to test various earphone models for this and will follow up in a later article. I've even tested the TrailAudio on my Terry Symmetry Road bicycle which
