The Calendar Changes: A New Year Dawns. As we come to the end of the old calendar year and the beginning of the New our senses are assualted by a myriad of year end reviews, well not being one to readily break with tradition, this week, I'm conducting my own review. For many Pagans, the New Year is clebrated on Samhain or october 31, aka, Hallowe'en. Be that as it may, it never hurts to stop, and enjoy the celebrations, and activties that are associated with the better known New Year's Eve. Resolutions are always good to make and review. If they serve no other purpose, than to get you to pause and look at what you are doing,to, for a moment, at least, live the Conscious Life. Over the two plus years that I having been producing this regular column, I have often made reference to building community. I've defined community to go far beyond that which contains only human life, to include all that is necessary to sustain Life in it widest definition, which means both animate and seemingly inanimate matter. Self-reliance has also been a frequent topic, and one I will continue, as we move into the Year 2001. Next week we will carry on with our examination of grassroots community developmant and food production and distribution, I wish everyone a Very Merry New Year and this year when you make your resolution, think about the ecosystem you inhabit and how you can live sustainably within it. The following links will help you uncover more information about becoming self-reliant: Interested in a good cause:
