A Valentine's Day Gift: The Basics of Fibromyalgia

February is the month for hearts, flowers, sweets, lovers, and romance. We may be allergic to the flowers that are so lovingly given to us, or we may pig out on a box of chocolates, and pay for it with headaches and fatigue. Our bodies may be in too much pain for a big romantic hug and kiss, and the thought of making love may send us into an immediate flare.

So, how are those of us with fibromyalgia to enjoy this Valentine's Day? A gift, such as Healthology can become a gift to not only ourselves, but also to our loved ones. This web site has a video broadcast which can be viewed and listened to via Real Player. Also, by registering at this site, it is possible to receive transcripts of the programs featured.

The video broadcast, "Moans and Groans: Could it be Fibromyalgia?", is an excellent discussion of the basics of fibromyalgia. By tuning into this broadcast with a spouse, partner, friend, or family member, it is possible for not only us but for them to gain a vast amount of knowledge about fibromyalgia. It is as easy as sitting and watching and listening to this program as one would watch television. If your spouse or loved one is male, I would suggest that you maintain control of the mouse, so they don't use it as a remote control as they sit in front of the computer screen.

The two doctors featured on the broadcast are very knowledgeable about fibromyalgia. Not only do they explain it in simple terms, but they discuss the Tender Point Index Test for diagnosing, treatment options, and how the person with fibromyalgia can educate themselves and help themselves through learning more about fibromyalgia.

This broadcast or the transcript is extremely useful for someone who has been recently diagnosed. It is also an excellent way in which to share what we go through each day with our loved ones. So, give the gift of this web site to someone for Valentine's Day, and share the basics of fibromyalgia. Not only will you learn about fibromyalgia, but your loved ones will gain a much better understanding, and possibly learn ways in which they can provide more support.
