Easy Summer Top by Lili Pintea-Reed

With temperatures skyrocketing, I decided to knit up some quick summer tops to beat the heat!

This is a very simple pattern done on large needles with cotton or silk yarn. Make several in different colors!

Two Needle pattern: Materials: 4 oz of worsted weight cotton or silk yarn number 6 needles (american) number 8 needles (american)

Knit Two.

With number six needles cast on 60 stitches. Work in a knit one, purl one rib for 12 rows. Switch to number eight needles and work even in stocking stitch for nine inches above the ribbing. Decrease 2 stitches at each end for arm opening. Work even for five rows. The decrease a stitch at each edge every other row until 20 stitches are left on the needle. Bind off.

Knit second section the same. Then join side seams to armhole decreses by sewing, crochet, or grafting.

Go to each end of the top twenty stitches and crochet or single knit a tie cord 10 inches or so.

Circular Needle Version: To work this pattern on a circular needle cast on 120 stitches to a number six circular. Work ribbing same as above. Switch to number eight circular and work even until you reach arm hole section. Split work and add second ball of yarn to back section. Work the two sections on the circular needles the same as above. Just saves you sewing seams.

Great now you have a quick cool top for summer!

I wear a 10-12 so it fits me. I'd do a gauge swatch to to size using whatever yarns.

Can you give us an idea of the blouse size this top comes out to? How would you adjust it for other sizes?
