Buntings to Knit and Crochet by Lili Pintea-Reed

I'm not sure what all our friends and relatives were doing roughly nine months ago, but recently I've had a huge number of requests for baby clothes patterns, and gifts of baby items. Ahem... Whatever the reason (a power outage??), I have found from raising my son years ago ( he's ten now) and making many baby gifts one of the most useful baby items you can make is an old fashioned bunting.

This is a long closed garment with an opening for the baby's head and occasionally arm holes. It ties at the bottom so the baby can't kick its way out and thus keeps warm. Most baby blankets while cute, get kicked off by babies leading to a "I'm cold" crying jag. Needless to say -- I love baby buntings!

Here are patterns to knit or crochet. You can also adapt any cute baby blanket pattern to close on the side and make up a head opening.
